About Us

The HobCo hob cover first came about back in 2008 when we installed a new kitchen in our own home. Once the sink and then the hob were installed we realised just how much space we had lost. Having been in the metal industry for over 25 years making many prototype products for various people, the idea of an aluminium cover over the hob, which would both protect it and reclaim valuable worktop space, was soon developed.

The original design was very simple, with four equal sides which covered the hob, and soon became a valued asset in our kitchen. As well as maximising our kitchen space we realised that it also complimented its surroundings and made the kitchen a smarter, cleaner space.

Having found our own hob cover such a valuable addition to our kitchen, we wondered if other people would also benefit from one. We decided to advertise them on Ebay to see if they would sell. Within days we knew this was a good idea as orders and questions came flooding in. This then became the beginning of Hob Covers Direct.

A few months later came the second design with reduced rear flange which both allows the cover to be used as a temporary splash-back and gives adequate breathing room for the hob to cool down so it can be covered immediately after use, protecting little fingers and wandering pets. Further discussions with customers who required covers for ceramic and induction hobs, as well as free-standing range cookers, produced variations of the HobCo suitable for a variety of situations and lead to the range of products we now offer.

From there the business has grown from strength to strength, with more and more people purchasing our covers to aid in safety and for the protection and cleanliness of their Hob. As well as private customers, schools, universities, council offices, kitchen fitters and even science labs have all benefited from the advantages that a HobCo hob cover brings. Our covers have been installed across the UK and as far away as Australia, in situations as diverse as cafés, restaurants, factories, nursing homes for the elderly and disabled, community centres and day nurseries - the list is endless. It seems there is a constant demand for the unique qualities of the HobCo, and we are happy to produce bespoke covers to fit any situation.

Don't just take our word for it, check out our testimonials page for feedback from our happy customers.

Despite the growth of the business we are still very much a family company, with both customer services and the design process being handled by me personally, so if you have any questions or would like to discuss a cover for your own hob, please do get in touch!
